Kicherer Tunes The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG

The Kicherer Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG, front and side view

The Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG is a unique creature, in that despite its impressive performance attributes, it's received a rather mixed reaction from the automotive community as a result of its updated exterior. At first even I was hesitant of the changes made to the model, but as time has progressed, I will admit I like the current SL range, and I do consider the new styling to be an improvement over the old.

Enter Kircherer.

In an attempt to make the Mercedes SL63 AMG even more appealing, the German tuning firm has taken the route many tuners do, enlisting the help of some carbon fiber and added horsepower to make the model even more dynamic. Specifically, they've bumped horsepower by 40 (increasing total output to 565 hp), thrown on a new carbon fiber rear diffusor and side mirrors, added new 20-inch light alloy wheels, and equipped it with a new exhaust system. The end result is a Mercedes SL63 AMG that can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.3 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than a standard SL63 AMG), looks substantially worse, and costs roughly $30,000 more.

Worth it?

I hate to judge, but I can think of many, many ways I'd rather spend thirty grand. A month in Fiji sipping tropical cocktails, a down payment on that used Cessna I've been considering to finally take up flying lessons, a Bengal tiger à la Scarface to to impress my house guests... the list is really endless.

Anyways, should you hold a different opinion of the Kicherer Mercedes SL63 AMG and wish to part with the extra $30,000 it will take to procure one, keep scrolling to see a number of photos highlighting exactly what the added money will get you. As always, click any photo to enlarge.

Enjoy ladies and gentlemen.
